Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Engineer to join our R&D team and support the development of innovative Class I and Class II medical devices. This role will assist the R&D Manager/Director with various aspects of product development, including design, testing, prototyping, and regulatory compliance. The Junior Engineer will be an integral part of the engineering team, providing support in technical documentation, testing, and product design processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support and Design Assistance:
  • Assist in the design and development of medical devices, particularly RF generators, RF electrodes, endoscopic instruments, and drill systems.
  • Support the creation of technical drawings, prototypes, and models using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Assist in selecting components and materials, ensuring they meet specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prototyping and Testing:
  • Support the prototyping process by helping build and assemble device components.
  • Conduct testing on prototypes, including electrical, mechanical, and functional tests to ensure the devices meet performance standards.
  • Assist with design verification and validation testing, following regulatory standards like FDA, ISO, IEC, etc.
  • Documentation and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Maintain and organize product documentation, including design history files, risk management files, test protocols, and validation reports.
  • Support the preparation of technical documents for regulatory submissions and assist with compliance activities, ensuring all work meets required standards.
  • Help track the completion of deliverables and milestones associated with product development.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the R&D Manager, senior engineers, and other team members to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Assist in coordinating efforts with external vendors and suppliers for component sourcing and procurement.
  • Participate in team meetings and design reviews, contributing technical insights and observations.
  • Project Management Support:
  • Assist in tracking project schedules, milestones, and timelines.
  • Maintain records of project progress and help identify potential risks and delays in development.
  • Support project managers in ensuring that tasks are completed on time and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new materials that may benefit medical device development.
  • Assist in process improvements, providing feedback on tools, techniques, and workflows that could enhance productivity and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in the medical device industry or a related field (internships or co-op experiences are acceptable).
  • Basic knowledge of medical device regulations and standards such as FDA, ISO 13485, and IEC.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical or electrical devices is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles and design practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools is a plus.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of RF energy applications or medical instrumentation is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with endoscopic technologies or biocompatible materials is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
